Best Guy Card

  

Do you have a handy hubby?  I sure do!  I'm always amazed at the things he can fix.  I thought this card would be a great way to let him know how much I appreciate all he does around here...

I used the hammer and nails stamp from the "Every Little Bit" set.  But it doesn't have to stay little--I enlarged the stamped image to create a template for the big hammer. 

There's a lot of dimension on this card--did you notice the strip of recycled corrugated cardboard on it?

I stamped the nails from the hammer and nail image inside the O in WOW by masking the surrounding area.

Go Confidently Card

I've really enjoyed working with the Nautical Expedition Collection from the Summer Mini Catalog.  Having all these coordinating "masculine" products is wonderful since I have two boys! 

I originally created this card for a graduate, but I think it has a wonderful message of encouragement that could work for so many occasions!

Punch Art Ship's Wheel Card

Do you like my new blog header?  I made it using the new Hostess Digital Content option in the 2011 Summer Mini Catalog called "Cheerful Treat" (pg. 4).  I had so much fun putting it together in My Digital Studio! The stitching is from the "Simple Stitches and Corners" digital file (126025) that was just released on Tuesday.

Here's another card using "The Open Sea" stamp set.  I stamped my images and added the Jumbo eyelet and the ribbon--but the card still needed something else.  So I came up with the idea of this punch art ship's wheel. 

Here are the easy steps:

1.  Use the Snowflake Punch on Crumb Cake card stock.

2.  Cut off all the angled parts of the snowflake.

3.  Use the 1" Circle Punch on Crumb Cake card stock.

4.  Turn the 1 1/4" Circle Punch upside down and center it around the previously punched area to create a ring.

5.  Optional--I sponged the 2 pieces with Early Espresso Classic Ink.

6.  Layer the ring over the trimmed snowflake. 

7.  Optional--Add a tiny brad from Vintage Trinkets in the center of the wheel.

For My Husband

Here's a simple card that I made to give to my husband on Father's Day. The Square Lattice Embossing Folder adds great texture to a masculine card.  I used the embossing folder on the entire card base--then added a Top Note die inside so I could write my message...

This card uses the Nouveau Chic DSP along with the retiring cardstock colors of Sage Shadow and Apricot Appeal.

Challenge #5 You're A Blast! Brayered Sky

Here's my fifth post in my personal blog challenge to post a project every day for a week.  I'm offering a chance at some great BLOG CANDY if you support me--it's not too late!  See the details here.

Yikes!  5:00 already?  I hope you don't mind if I pull a project out of my "stampin' vault" today! This card was featured on the SU Stampers' Showcase for demos. I'll give you a quick tutorial, too.  I promise after the kids are in bed tonight I'll work on something brand new. But I can't stay up too late....my 2nd grader has to be up at 5:30 to catch the bus---school is starting!

This is my take on the brayered sky technique.  I thought it was the perfect background for this cute rocket.

Here are the basic steps for my out-of-this-world brayered sky:

1. Brayer approx. half the card (4.25x5.5 GLOSSY white cardstock)  with Bashful Blue Classic Ink.  Allow to dry.

 

2. Stick 2 large Post-It Notes together (they need to cover 4.25") and cut one side in an arc.  Be sure some of the adhesive strip is still on the Post-It Note after you cut it so it will still stick to the card.  Attach the Post-It-Note over the Bashful Blue area.  Brayer the rest of the card with Not Quite Navy Classic Ink.

 

3.  You may want to sponge along the top edge of the Post-It Note with Not Quite Navy Ink to get a sharp edge. Allow to dry.

 

4.  Take off the Post-It Note and reposition it so that it covers about 1.25" of the Not Quite Navy Ink.  Brayer the remainder of the card with Night of Navy Classic Ink.  Allow to Dry.

 

5. Before removing the Post-It Note, use the "Itty Bitty Backgrounds" stamp set to add stars.  Use Whisper White Craft Ink and be VERY careful to stamp straight down and pull straight up because they smudge!  Allow to dry.

6. Remove the Post-It Note.  I added the land to my earth by sponging on some Old Olive Classic Ink. The final touch is some clouds sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink.  Allow to dry.

7.  Add your focal stamp--the cute rocket from "Pun Fun" and some ribbon.
